Kamala Harris DOES Have A Policies Web Site!

Image
Come on Media ā€” mainstream, midstream, downstream, liberal or conservative, whatever you want to call yourselves ā€” quit propagating the idea that Kamala Harris does not have policies on the inter-web. If you want to know what her priorities are and what she has accomplished, maybe take a look at these two pages on the Biden-Harris  Accomplishments and Priorities ?  Allow me to give you some interpretive guidance and advice: First, if it is not on her Top Accomplishments list, it's probably not a priority for her. Second, if it is not on her Priorities list, it's not something she really intends to accomplish. Third, try to keep in mind that just because someone lists an accomplishment does not mean there is direct, empirical or even circumstantial evidence that it has been accomplished. Accomplishments Take, for instance, the Biden-Harris claim to "Lowering Costs of Everyday Expenses," accompanied by a detailed, cartoon-esque graphic that probably cost upwards of ten...

Accomplishments on Trial: You Decide

Image
Take a look at what Trump claims to have accomplished, then compare it against what Biden-Harris claim to have accomplished. Letā€™s put their accomplishments on trial. In a trial, there is ā€œ Direct Evidenceā€ and ā€œ Circumstantial Evidence.ā€ Direct Evidence are things that you can measure, see, and touch. Circumstantial Evidence are things that you ā€œfeelā€ are true based on circumstances and your best observation, but things for which there is no direct proof. Which of the two candidates wins the trial? Which one has the most ā€œDirect Evidence?ā€ Which one has the most ā€œCircumstantial Evidence?ā€ Or, perhaps there is one candidate who has the most Direct AND the most Circumstantial Evidence. You decide. For each so-called ā€œaccomplishment,ā€ ask yourself five questions: First, ā€œIs this an accomplishment that really matters to me, to my family, and to the country?ā€ Second, ā€œIs there Direct Evidence to support the claim, such as official government statistics, things that you and others...

An Election Juxtaposition : The Presidential Conventions and The Godward Life Conference

Image
At the same time that we (many of us) struggle to come to grips with Presidential tickets comprised of an autocratic California Marxist (Harris) and an autocratic Minnesota Marxist (Tim Walz), on the one side, and two Populist Nationalists (Donald Trump and J. D. Vance) on the other side, we must remind ourselves that California and Minnesota and Ohio and New York have a considerable number of Christ-trusting and Bible-believing citizens. In the case of Minnesota, I am reminded that Bethlehem Baptist Church, pastored by John Piper, is firmly established in the city of Minneapolis.  I do not harbor any false illusions that every member of Bethlehem Church is a Christian, much less a Republican or Democrat. But I believe I can safely say that that Bethlehem Church stands as a beacon of light in the darkness that is both political parties. And I believe that it is equally safe to say that there are true Christians and Christian churches in the home states and cities of all the candida...

No Responsible Person in Private Business Would Ever Hire Kamala Harris

Image
Kamala Harris I worked in HR management in private companies for 38 years. In that time, I was engaged in the hiring process for thousands of employees. One of the things I learned was that it is difficultā€”no, it is impossibleā€”to learn very much about a person based on a resumĆ© and an hour or two of interviews, no matter what interviewing methods you use. I also learned that possession of a college degreeā€”even an advanced degree with professional certificationā€”is scant proof of future success. 'Back in the day' before social media, it was even more difficult to gauge someone's character and world views (both of which should be essential to hiring, but have largely been legislated and shamed out of existence in the hiring process). If an interviewee had sufficient experience and education, you took your chances and hired them, then, like marrying someone two weeks after you met them at a bar, you simply observed and waited to see if they were a home run, a single, or a str...

A Panhandle Conservative in Queen Sheila's Court

Image
I moved from Borger, TX to Houston in 1994. For thirty years, I was a Panhandle Conservative in Queen Sheila's Court. I went from one of the most Red areas of the state and country to one of the most Black and Blue. I can't say that I suffered under Queen Sheila's rule, nor can I say that I prospered under her rule. I lived in an unincorporated portion of the Houston area, and did not even know for a few years, when she came up for reelection, that she was my representative. That is more than humorous, because she was one of my favorite targets for political derision, even before I moved to southeast Texas. No, I can't say that Sheila Jackson Lee affected my life at all as a member of the District she represented in the United States House of Representative. Queen Sheila was in the House only for herself. Public statements, public appearances, legislation, graft and corruption...everything she did was for Sheila, and Sheila only. I suspect that her replacement will be m...

The Gospel for All Nations, by O Palmer Robertson

 O. Palmer Robertson is someone we have gotten to know only relatively lately, and we consider our introduction to Him a God-given, providential discovery. Robertson has somewhat recently taken to writing a Substack page called Elder to Elder (elder2elder). Though his Substack normally is focused on issues that directly affect Teaching and Ruling Elders, occasionally he writes more broadly or universally. The substack article below falls into the latter category. We appreciate all that Robertson writes, but we are especially enlightened by his knowledge of the Gospel as it pertains to God's Covenant to the Jews; "Gospel Equity" (our term, not Robertson's) among Jews and Gentiles; Palestine in history and in God's overall plans, and "the land." In short, he clears up much confusion and anxiety that exists in the church and in the world regarding "the times" and "the land" vis-a-vis the Jews and the Gentiles, and redemptive history. ...

America is not a common dumping ground for the world's offal and rubbish

Image
THERE IS A GREAT (IN MY OPINION) BOOK WRITTEN IN 1890 WITH THE TITLE "OUR COUNTRY'S FUTURE, OR GREAT NATIONAL QUESTIONS." It covers a number of topics, including Divorce, Our Cities, Religion, The Politician and much more. In the section on Immigration, there is a statement that I believe is applicable to our times, 134 years after it was written. I thought you might find it to be so, too. "BECAUSE this is a land of liberty a great many foreigners imagine it a land of license. To do them justice, they do not know any better. But we do, and it is our duty to teach them the difference. If we don't, we, not they, will be the principal sufferers. The subject of immigration has been largely discussed by the newspapers of late, and a good deal of demagogy has been got off in Congress on the same subject. But sensible people are pretty well agreed that it is time to put some restriction upon the use of America as a common dumping ground for the world's offal and rub...

DEI is the "climate change of HR"

DEI is the "climate change of HR." It's an unsustainable "solution" for a make-believe problem. Small wonder that most HR people (I retired from the field) are still rabid for DEI, as the vast majority of today's HR professionals are young, female, liberal and radical, at least compared to HR people from 50 to 75 years ago. HR people "in the day" had a much deeper understanding of business, and a much more keen awareness for the employer-employee balance. And they were much less gullible and brainwashed than today's HR practitioners. My entire HR career was, as have been the careers of most HR people, carried out in the face of skeptical senior managers forced (to some extent) to "take HR's word for it" (DEI, affirmative action, this fad, that fad...ad infinitum), who then felt betrayed when HR's pleas and assurances turned out to be all Cost and no Benefit. Alas, DEI has nigh established itself as yet another HR cottage indus...

R.C. Sproul: Eternity

Without commentary from me, I commend to you....

Joe Biden on Natural Law

Image
R. C. Sproul rarely mentioned living people in a negative way, and when he did, the mention was well-earned. He mentions Joe Biden in this teaching on Eternity from nine years ago. Is it any wonder that Biden would have no problem with the weaponization of the law, when he has long held that our laws are not based on Natural Law? On top of that held belief, Biden graduated last in his law-school class.

IQ Tests Are One Reason I Don't Trust AI

Image
REMEMBER IQ TESTS? Stick with me here for a minute or two.  One of the (if not the main) reasons I shy away from Artificial Intelligence (AI) (which is not even a real thing, but that is another discussion) is because, unlike the woke crowd, I don't reject completely the legitimacy of IQ tests. That having been said, it stands to reason that AI will always reflect the breadth, width, depth and sources of learning of the various individuals who are developing the AI programs (i.e., their IQ's).  (And by the way, does it not bother people that multiple AI programs and models are being developed, thereby suggesting that there are many types of intelligence around any particular topic?)   In short, AI will always reflect the collective IQ's of its developers. And I would venture to say that it will also reflect the EQ's (Emotional Quotient) of its developers. The key idea here is when I mentioned the breadth, width, depth and sources of learning of each AI develop...

Why Texas is Morally and Legally Right in Stopping the Invasion at the Border

Image
In the 1600's, Francis Turretin, a Christian Reformer in Italy, published " The Institutes of Elenctic  (serving to refute; used of indirect modes of proof as opposed to deictic ) Theology ." The book as originally published is more than 3,000 pages in length, containing proofs and refutations on all major (and some intermediate and minor) topics on Theology. Turretin, being himself a great student of the Bible, was an avid and thorough student and scholar of all things Theological, and a formidable debunker of all things untrue. So, what does this Italian Reformer who lived more than 300 years ago have to do with the current efforts of the State of Texas and Governor Greg Abbott in to stop the invasion of illegal aliens into Texas? In a section of Turretin's book dealing with the "call to public ministry," Turretin points out that there are several different categories of "callings." Turretin makes two substantial points, and gives examples, of a...
